Malawi is a landlocked independent republic with a democratic government. It is located south of Tanzania and to the west of Mozambique and forms part of the Southern African Region. Its capital city is Lilongwe. Other major cities include Blantyre, Zomba and Mzuzu.
Malawian people are mainly Protestant and their official languages are English and Chichewa. The country has a subtropical climate. Malawi's currency is the Kwacha.

It is wise to take all medication needed, as medical facilities and hospitals are very basic. Only boiled or bottled water should be drunk.
