Situated between Israel and Syria, Lebanon has a lot to offer including ancient cities, Roman ruins, splendid ski resorts, rural charm and Islamic architecture. In spite of its turbulent history, Lebanon also has a rich cultural heritage as well as a religious and social diversity.
Some sites worth visiting are Aanjar, Baalbeck, Byblos, Tyre and the Qadisha Valley/Cedars Forest, all of which have been declared World Heritage sites by Unesco.
Beirut, the capital city, boasts excellent cuisine and wines as well as a rich past. Other major cities include Tripoli, Sidon, Tyre and Zahleh.
