OVERVIEW
Vietman is situated alongside China, Laos, and Cambodia. Central Vietnam's dominant port and Da Nang (the fourth largest city) does not offer much apart from its magnificent Cham Museum, however, it is an incredibly friendly place and a main transport hub with air connections, road and rail links. Green boulevards and colonial-style houses are witnesses of the earlier French presence in the country.
The Cham Museum showcases the most comprehensive Cham art in the world. Its display of graceful, sometimes severe, terracotta and sandstone figures gives a profound glimpse of an artistically inclined culture that ruled most of southern Vietnam for a thousand years.
The Cao Dai Temple, built in 1956, is Vietnam's second most important after Tay Ninh. It is a smaller, simpler version of Tay Ninh, where the all-seeing eye of the Supreme Being and paintings of Cao Dai's principal saints, Lao-tzu, Confucius, Jesus Christ and Buddha can be found.
Vietnamese people are mainly Buddhist and their official language is Vietnamese. The country has a tropical climate with a rainy season (May to September) and a dry season (October to March). Vietnam's currency is the Dong.
Some tips to take into account when visiting Vietman: the electricity runs on 127/220 Volts and the country code is 84.
